How MakerRadar reviews products, handles duplicates, and chooses weekly picks.

Inclusion Bar

A product can be listed when:

  • It has a working official website of its own — a domain the product owns — that we can open and verify.
  • It is a real, functioning product (a website, tool, mobile app, or browser extension), not just a landing page with no product behind it.
  • We can write an accurate, specific description from what the site actually offers.

A mobile app or a browser extension is welcome as long as it has its own site. What we do not list, because there is no product-owned website to verify against:

  • Apps whose only page is a store listing (App Store, Google Play, Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, Microsoft Store).
  • Projects whose only page is a source-code repository (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, SourceForge).
  • Sites deployed on someone else's shared host, such as my-app.vercel.app, user.github.io, or name.netlify.app. A domain like example.com is fine; a free subdomain under a platform is not. The exception is rare and is ours to make, not yours to request: where a maker publishes nothing but a free subdomain, the product can still be listed, keyed on that full subdomain so it blocks nothing else.

Store, repository, and deployment links are still useful to us — they can be recorded as discovery sources on a listing that does have an official site. If what you made only has a store page or a repo, publishing a simple official site makes it listable.

We will not list products that are fraudulent, malicious, or that we cannot describe accurately from available information.

How We Handle Information

  • Descriptions are written from a product's own website or other reliable sources. We do not invent features, pricing, customers, or achievements.
  • Pricing is only shown as Free, Freemium, Paid, Open Source, or One-time purchase after we have confirmed it. Otherwise it is left as unknown.
  • Creator names and X handles are shown only when confirmed. The URL where we discovered a product is kept separate from the product's official website.
  • A product's listed date reflects when MakerRadar added it — not when the product itself was released.
  • Drafts may start from an AI-assisted summary of the product's own website. A person checks the facts and edits the wording before anything is published.

Duplicates

One product can appear from many places, and one domain can host several distinct products. We check for possible duplicates during review and link multiple discovery sources to a single listing rather than creating repeats. If your site hosts genuinely different products, tell us and we'll keep them separate.

Weekly Picks

  • Weekly Picks are a small, human-selected set — five products each week by default. The number may grow when the volume of good finds and the review capacity allow it; the standard does not change.
  • Each pick carries a written reason. This is an editorial opinion, clearly labeled, not an objective ranking or a score.
  • A product is featured at most once. Being picked uses up that product's only appearance, so later editions go to products we have not featured yet.

Submissions

There is no public submission form. Products reach the review queue through the conversations under MakerRadar's posts on X, and occasionally by email.

Sending a product does not guarantee a listing or a weekly pick, and the volume against one person's capacity means some suggestions may not be actioned. The contact page explains where to send one; the About page explains how the decisions are made.

Corrections

If a listing is inaccurate or a link is broken, contact us and we'll review it. We keep the product profile rather than silently deleting it, and mark sites for recheck when needed.
