What It Does

RoutePlanner is a route builder for people who get outside: pick a starting point on a map, choose the activity — running, walking, hiking, cycling or mountain biking — set how far you want to go, and it generates a loop made for that distance. A point-to-point mode takes two points and a target distance instead, for routes that finish somewhere else.

Planning is meant to end before you leave. You can review several route options and their distances, switch map layers between streets, outdoor, topo and satellite, and check the elevation profile with total ascent and descent so the climb is known in advance. Saved routes stay in your account to come back to.

From there a route can be sent to your watch: the site gives guides for Garmin, Apple Watch, COROS, Suunto and Polar, starting by sharing the route to the app you already use. As of this listing the product is not open yet — the homepage shows a coming-soon state with a notify-me sign-up while the features are published.
