A control plane for autonomous AI agents: every consequential action passes identity, policy and human approval, with a signed receipt.

What It Does
Vitals replaces the process wall of Activity Monitor with sixty apps rather than a thousand processes, and keeps up to a year of hour-by-hour history you can actually read back. Alerts fire when an app misbehaves, and the menu bar can carry every readout as its own item in your order, in calm, colorful or compact styling.
The part that separates it from a system monitor is the AI-agent layer: Vitals shows every coding-agent session and everything each session started, and tracks what is left of each AI plan and when the limit resets — the two things a developer running Claude Code or Codex usually has to go and check in a browser. An MCP server lets Claude, Codex and Cursor ask Vitals about the machine directly.
Developer context carries through the rest of the feature set: dev servers and open ports grouped by project with idle ones pointed out, Docker containers with their own memory, CPU and ports, a per-app volume mixer with the mic, temperature and fan sensors with a fan you can hold, battery drain and what keeps the Mac awake, and GPU and Neural Engine usage attributed per process. The site states plainly that what you run stays on your Mac, and sells the app as a lifetime license.
Key Features
- Processes grouped by app instead of a raw process list
- Coding-agent view: every session and everything it started
- AI plan usage limits with what remains and when they reset
- MCP server so Claude, Codex and Cursor can query the machine
- Up to a year of hour-by-hour history plus misbehaving-app alerts
- Dev servers and ports by project, Docker containers, volume mixer, temperature, fans, battery, GPU and Neural Engine
- Menu bar monitor with every readout as its own item
Who It Is For
Mac developers who run coding agents and local services and want one monitor for system load, agent activity and AI plan limits.
Key Use Cases
Seeing which app is really eating CPU rather than scanning process names; tracking what each coding agent session launched; checking remaining AI plan quota and reset time; monitoring dev servers and Docker containers per project; asking Vitals about your Mac from Claude, Codex or Cursor.

Strengths and Limitations
Strengths
The agent and AI-plan views answer questions Activity Monitor cannot, and the MCP server turns the monitor into something an AI assistant can read.
Limitations
Mac only, and the launch lifetime price is limited to a fixed number of keys.
